Despite blisters, I think I am improving at swing dancing. Today was fun, felt more like I was keeping up. Katie wasn't there this week, replaced by Dana, who looked shy and pale and had long, slender fingers. There were a lot of good leads there, and it was fun to follow their style. Also to watch. I could never be like Deanna, but she is fun to watch. Really pulls off a tube top well, too. Surprising.

Also had a lovely awkward moment. Naturally it occurred whilst dancing with David, who is crazy. He asked me if I was looking down (you're not supposed to look at the footwork, you're just supposed to feel what to do). "I think you're looking down. Oh I know! You're trying to look at my penis!" (I wasn't. But I don't like lots of eye contact with people I only kinda know, which was probably the problem.) Still, kind of strange thing to say, especially for a guy who doesn't realize the innuendos he makes EVERY class.

I managed to catch a couple fireflies and talk to Mallory for a bit after I was done with dancing. It was a pretty good day, but I didn't get much studying done for 211 this weekend. Hrm. How does one study dynamic programming? At least I have an idea for a start on the lab that I can present to the TA at office hours and see if I am OK'd to begin actual work on it.

Heh a good place to watch is the left shoulder--it gives you advance notice on leads, and lets you avoid eye contact. Also, this is why I like formal ballroom dances, where you are expected to look way off to your partner's left.

In closed hold, I have found that often it just happens that I look to my partner's left and that he looks to my right. Other than that, I am generally unsure of where my focus is, in retrospect, although I think it's pretty unmistakably not on my partner's crotch area and that David was just being weird.
