I went
got one of those ribbon bracelets
but it was a lie.
I didn't really get the full experience.
I went to see Attack Theatre do a performance in the sculpture garden (not much of sculptures, not much of a garden). It rained, so they put down tarps and did it inside. Before the performance, we walked around to five pieces where dancers discussed their five keyword impressions of the pieces, showed snippets of choreography, and were otherwise pompous art appreciator-type people. Liked to hear themselves talk. I got bored at times. But some of the shit there is so fantastic, I gotta go back. I will tell lj more about it when I do. Room lined in packing tape and crazy, I must explore you deeper. But yeah, Attack Theatre's draw seems to be their liftwork. It was kinda sucky that they showed us everything before they did it, it seemed, and that the first section of their piece had NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with the music, which was cliché anyway (something apocalyptica my friend had sent me to introduce me to the band); they just kind of used music as backdrop and shat all over it. It may as well have been set to silence. I don't like their music selections or some of the weird campy shit they do or that their public performances don't have a definite beginning, but they got some cool partnerwork and lift stuff in there.
