Florida politics
Nov. 5th, 2008 12:53 amMy dad, godfather and I may been among the 220-something votes in Sarasota County that gave it to Obama. Sweet! I am impressed by Florida! And my dad, who is kinda racist! A lot of the state map is red, although anything red is pretty much hicksville... major cities are in blue counties.
Unfortunately, marriage is now defined as man-woman only. Not that I am surprised, since it's Florida and Florida hates gay people and doesn't even want them to adopt, but still. SRQ had a narrower margin than the state, but still, "Yes" was the majority.
Bit sad Vern got reelected, despite being completely sleazy, and that people still think Kathy Dent is competent after the ballot fiasco the first time Vern got elected... but Keith Fitzgerald was reelected! Yay! And Jan got only 5%, shrug. I like Jan.
It seems like most of the time in Sarasota or anywhere else in Florida, Democrats only win if no Republican is running or in rare instances of incumbency or highly-publicized (key modifier) Republican child molestation, and that third parties have no chance. No chance! Republicans just sweep everything, mostly.
PS. I am crushed under the weight of this week. Too much to do, schoolwise. I dreamed of being excluded from more togetherness activities due to work, and also that a nude model came over and made me have low self-esteem.
