some kind of post
Jul. 20th, 2008 10:12 pmWent to Sherbrook today with csjackso and a loaf of carrot-zucchini bread. I left one of them behind. The plan was to scope out the room for later movings-in. Ended up dragging the armoire-thing from the hallway (there was a paper steak and shake hat atop it I threw out) into the room I will inhabit starting sometime in August, rotating the desk so you could open and close the door from the outside, and petting the kitty, who was running around, jumping into the armoire, leaping up to the windowsill, crawling behind the desk, lying down in the doorway, and otherwise being cute and counterproductive right when and where we were trying to move something. I feel bad for moving around the chrisamastuff I did to effect furniture rearrangement.
I am kinda excited. Although. Was surprised that nobody knew where to find a normal-sized Phillips screwdriver. I went to the freezer to visit/laugh at the okra, and the thing is lined with frost, which the instructions say will take probably 24 hours to remove. And since I have never lived there, I still want to clean other things as well. But that doesn't dull the strange excitement, somehow? Clearly the draw of Sherbrook is the people that live in or frequent it, but I dunno.
My roommates in Shadyside have found a guy to move into my room here. He'll be replacing me end of August.
I've been riding my bike a lot more this weekend. I am almost comfortable with it, except for the heat. Sad to say, but I think I need more tank tops. Never thought I'd say that. I know my way around the gears now, I think. Last night I accidentally came home down the Negley hill, a somewhat terrifying accomplishment. And when I lock it up, I still feel like it's going to be stolen, and then I won't have a bike anymore.
I have a haircut. It's like the old one, but shorter in back and slightly longer in front. My cameras are broken.
As vaguely mentioned yesterday, I have begun having to go to dance rehearsal three times a week for a distant show. It's called twenty eighty-four, pillow project is doing it, it's in october. more later. There was a deaf-mute girl who took class with us before rehearsal. She seemed pretty cool. Is shorter than Pearlann, drank a bee pollen smoothie, writes questions on a little dry erase board she carries around. I wonder what it's like to dance to vibrations you can only feel but don't hear. Anyway, I woke up sore. I am indifferent to the sore neck, can easily guess why my legs are sore, attribute the back-soreness to handlebar-holding and carrying the bike up and down stairs, but the abs? I must have done something right at dance.
I watched Serenity with Chris today, so now I have seen all the firefly stuff. I don't really understand fandom. And I feel no urge whatsoever to go out and see the new Batman, even though the people at dance and on the internets were all raving about it. Chris was too warm and tired to go swing dancing, so I went alone, and left early because I felt the onset of sickness. The leads that came to the lesson today had awkward rhythm, so I would have liked to stay and dance with people who were more fun to follow, but it was a good idea to just go. David said he's leaving soonish, and Chris likes to go to hear him be awkward while giving the lessons, so I dunno if I can get him to go anymore after David's gone. Heh. I keep hoping that Hayley will resurface, but no such luck.
Tomorrow I need to find some break in work to talk to the hub about why I have no financial aid for the fall (oh shit), go to kgb, eat, go to rehearsal, call my mother about the financial aid, call my grandma because she's having cataract surgery that afternoon, work on the lab... I'd like to draw or do dishes or something, but man. I also low-priority (for now) need to clean my room, start writing officer bios sometime soon, draft material for pravda?, get a new office key, amass a few more laundry quarters, look for fall-semester employment...
