Kathy overslept, so I'm moving the fridge and shit tomorrow.

I really liked the warmup and exercises we worked on at dance today, and on top of it all, we listened to The Eraser. Mmm. Apparently I made everyone feel it when Pearlann told us to dance "disjoint" today. I am humbled. She is excellent with examples and inspiration, and I am eager to spend more time around her this summer. In her artistic tutelage! My body was not built for this bombardment of maths.

Then I went downstairs to poke around in assorted bits of everyone's old glass and metal and wood junk. The hardware section is the most random and delightful. I kind of want to revisit the creepy rusty found object in new settings art I half-assed in like eighth grade. But I found a sweet cabinet 12" deep that looked ideal for above my bookcase, and the guy working there gave me another small cabinet for free. I unhinged its door-that-wouldn't-shut and am using the cabinet as a below-desk cubbyhole for paper and art/computer/typewriter supplies. The other cabinet now holds/hides pants and pajamas and fit perfectly where I had intended it to go. At some point when I feel moved in, I will post pictures. I called csjackso, and after long busing, he helped me lug my freshly-obtained dusty cabinetry onto a bus and to my apartment on his birthday. And then dusted it. I feel like kind of a bitch. But I got him gatorade and shared pizza with him when we went back to campus so I could wash my greasy greasy locks (somehow shorter is not better for that)? I know, I am a sucky friend. Should fix that.

After that we went back to Shadyside for his birthday dinner at Thai Place. Other members of the party were: wjl, chrisamaphone, dannel. It was excellent food and excellent company. I need to improve my chopsticks skillz for rice in sauce. Dinner conversation was varied, but a lot of it left me feeling like trying the Peruvian place on Walnut. Then, cupcakes! Coco's cupcakes! Even though that totally used to be my awful childhood nickname and my aunt still, to my chagrin, addresses my birthday cards "Coco Reilly"... the cupcakes were good (la mer était mauvaise). I had a vegan red velvet. People don't go for vegan baked goods, but this one was pretty tasty. Although I had a vanilla one later and the cake part was better than dozen's, even if the buttercream wasn't as good. So we spent hours in that cupcakery chatting. I am in awe of them and of computer science. They were talking about and types and C and other things I vaguely recognize but don't grasp... professors and classes... I was watching the lone employee fastidiously wipe and re-wipe the tables... I should also listen to more music... and stop using so many damn ellipses. We sat there so long that we somehow walked away with eighteen free cupcakes?? Because she was going to have to throw them away anyway at closing? But just as we were leaving, a group of ~9 people crossed the threshold and we were thinking, lol, we just got soo many cupcakes for free. The Cupcake Gods exist, and they smiled upon us today.

William was kind enough to drop us off on campus, then I did laundry! Because in a few days, laundry will no longer be free. But my building's basement is still pretty nice, notwithstanding the somewhat disturbing off white/goldenrod two-tone paint job in the stairwell.

Looking out the window the other day, I realized a couple things:
1. My sense of direction is wretched. I was sitting in Schatz facing Doherty and expected to see the UC turnaround.
2. The foliage outside the window was marvelous. Marvelous. It is a marvel that so much and so green appeared so fast, and that now little birds flit around on these branches decked in green that were bare twigs just weeks ago. Stupid standardized test essays teach people that adjectives such as this are pretty much interchangeable, but it is not fantastic or stupendous. It is just marvelous. And maybe a bit amazing.

I think that's what I've got for now.
